Helping/Auxiliary Verbs

An auxiliary verb, or helping verb, works with a main verb. Auxiliary verbs serve a variety of purposes. Some auxiliary verbs, such as could, should, might, and may, show how likely it is that something will happen. Some auxiliary verbs, such as did, is, will, and would, indicate the tense of the main verb. An auxiliary or helping verb always comes before the main verb.
