Genre

Genre is a type, or category, of literature. Some examples of genre include fiction (realistic fiction, crime fiction, and historical fiction), nonfiction, biography, autobiography, poetry, fantasy, science fiction, fable, fairy tale, legend, myth, and play.

Fiction refers to a narrative telling about imaginary characters and events and not based on real people and facts.

Nonfiction refers to writing that is about real events and verifiable facts, rather than stories which have been invented.

Biography refers to the life story of a person written by someone else.
