Singular Possessive and Plural Possessive Nouns

Possessive nouns show ownership or possession.

To form the possessive of singular nouns, including those ending in -s, -x, and -z, add an apostrophe and s as in worker; worker’s.

To form the possessive of most plural nouns ending in -s, add an apostrophe after the s as in teachers; teachers’. To form the possessive of plural nouns that do not end in -s, add an apostrophe and s to show ownership or possession as in children; children’s or women; women’s.
