Possessives and Contractions: Your and You're
The words your and you’re sound almost alike but have different spellings and meanings. Your is a possessive pronoun and shows ownership. You’re is a contraction made from the words you and are.
A contraction is a shortened word made by joining two words such as who is ; who’s, who has ; who’s, and could not ; couldn’t. The apostrophe takes the place of the missing letter(s).
