The Perfect Tenses: Present, Past, and Future
The perfect tenses indicate more complex relations. A verb in one of the perfect tenses indicates an action that was or will be completed at the time of another action.
The present perfect tense (have succeeded, has won) expresses an action that started in the past, was recently completed, or is still happening.
